Privacy Policy

BanquetOS is built local-first: your recipes, menus, events, leftovers, and ingredient catalog live in your browser's on-device storage, not on a server, and no account is ever required to use the app. This policy covers the one thing that does leave your device: the optional cloud backup.
What stays on your device
Recipes, menus, events, leftover records, ingredient overrides, and your unit-system preference are stored in IndexedDB in your browser. We never see this data unless you sign in to cloud backup. Uninstalling the app or clearing your browser's site data erases it, on that device, permanently.
If you sign in to cloud backup
Signing in is optional and only affects backup — the app works identically either way. When you sign in:
- Identity: authentication is handled by Auth0. We receive your Auth0 account identifier and, if you sign in with email, your email address. We never see or store your password.
- Backed-up data: your recipes, ingredient overrides, menus, events, and leftover records are mirrored to our database, tagged to your account identifier, so they can follow you to another device or survive a lost one.
- Billing: cloud backup is a $4.99/mo subscription processed by Stripe. Stripe handles your card details directly — we never receive or store your card number. We keep only your Stripe customer ID, subscription ID, and subscription status, to know whether backup is active.
Hosting
The app is served by Netlify. Cloud backup runs through Netlify serverless functions, backed by a Postgres database hosted on Neon. Both process data on our behalf and do not use it for their own purposes.
What we don't do
No analytics or tracking scripts, no advertising, no selling or sharing your data with third parties for marketing. Your recipes are yours.
Your choices
You can sign out at any time without losing local data. To have your backed-up data deleted from our database, email support@cheflifemedia.com — see the Data Retention Policy for how long data is kept.
Children
BanquetOS is a professional kitchen tool and is not directed at, or knowingly used by, children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the update.
